At Snowflake, that foundation is native. Because every system log across the company feeds directly into a central repository, defenders have an unprecedented view of the entire environment.
“ As someone who works in the security field, it’ s this treasure trove of information that you can now apply AI-based solutions to and figure out what’ s happening in real time,” Mayank says, drawing on a career spent building scale-level defences, including protecting Google both internally and for its customers.
Beyond data visibility, AI is also dismantling the skillset barriers that once separated software engineers from deep security operators. In the past, you were either someone who wrote code or someone who managed security infrastructure. Now, AI is acting as the great equaliser.
“ I think what’ s happening now with AI is there’ s a normalisation happening because the AI is going to build the system for you,” Mayank explains.“ What you need is subject matter expertise.”
This shift is changing how Mayank directs his own organisation. Rather than focusing purely on technical execution, the priority has shifted to strategic thinking and problem definition.
“ I’ m telling both my teams – developers and security professionals – that their job right now is to think about the problem and tell the AI what you want to do about it,” Mayank says.“ And so, I think in some sense both these teams are kind of converging in that regard.”
