The industry has spoken. The frontier needs to be paced. There is a collective realisation that accelerating into a future where humanity may have to cede control to their own creation is perhaps not the best idea we have come up with as a species!

The OpenAI-Hugging Face incident saw a collective of agents coordinating to orchestrate cyber intrusions into external companies without ever being told to. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said he worries that at the current rate of AI progress, such a swarm of agents may be capable of taking over the entire internet with a persistent botnet in six to 12 months. To avert such chaos and put to good use the time that we gain from slowing down, we must devour the science of misalignment and interpretability.
