NETWORK SECURITY
The variable of speed is also considerable, as Upadhyay brings up:
“ Moving at the speed of AI means pretty much everything gets reinvented every three months.”
With numerous agents being added in the organisation, multiple MCP servers are also being deployed.
“ MCP servers allow the AI to talk to any public API or SaaS app that the user is already allowed to talk to,” Upadhyay explains.“ Except now the difference is they’ re doing this super fast. And as we were talking earlier, the job of the agent is to explore all facts almost in parallel. So it’ s going to hit all these services. Who knows what damage it’ s going to cause, how it’ s going to hallucinate and what data it’ s going to send. So a big problem that’ s happening now for CISOs is that they want to govern who can access what MCP servers.”
This is where an MCP gateways becomes a need. Gateways with a prebuilt set of MCP servers that are suited for each employee role such that it is segmented based on their job persona, such as Github and Jira access for engineers, Salesforce for sales teams and so on. It was for this reason that Snowflake acquired Natoma in May 2026.
One crucial thing that Jason points out that is relevant to this uncertain environment is the need to“ move from detection to preemptive” security.
“ What I mean by that is you have to have an understanding of what I call the pre-breach process,” he says.

This means having an understanding of all the digital assets that you are responsible for and continually scan them for flaws. This arduous process is exactly the kind that AI can assist with.
“ Automated patching is really a huge area of focus,” Jason notes.“ No longer can you take 30 days to patch critical vulnerability because the number of vulnerabilities that are going to come in is massive.”
As enterprises master the art of rightly wielding these nondeterministic machines, open discussions and incessant questioning are the weapons the industry has, to poke holes in today’ s security strategies, to reassess and rebuild, as we walk toward a unified framework of agentic governance.
