Gary brings three decades of technology and security experience to Johnson & Johnson, where he has served as CISO since November 2022. He leads the Information Security and Risk Management organisation, protecting critical data, advancing global security strategy and driving cybersecurity transformation across products and services. Before Johnson & Johnson, Gary was Global CISO at Bayer, where he led information security, IT risk, compliance, cyber defence, security awareness and control governance. Earlier roles included security architecture and threat intelligence, alongside work with the US Department of Defense and Fortune 500 companies. Gary is also active beyond the corporate security function, mentoring cybersecurity startups, advising universities and contributing to industry forums. He also teaches cybersecurity engineering as an adjunct professor. Across his career, his focus has been building security programmes that support business objectives rather than simply police them.
